This role is ideal for a senior professional with deep outsourced accounting experience, strong people leadership skills, and a solid understanding of the healthcare industry. The position may be remote or based out of one of BerryDunn’s Northeast offices.

Travel Expectations: Travel is generally limited; occasional travel is expected for key client meetings and select project phases, approximately 10% travel.

You Will

  • Provide leadership in the continued development, expansion, and execution of BerryDunn’s healthcare outsourced accounting services, including contributing to service strategy, pricing models, and business planning
  • Serve as a primary client relationship leader for HC-OAS engagements, acting as a trusted advisor to healthcare organizations on accounting, finance, and operational matters
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of professionals dedicated to healthcare outsourced accounting services, including coaching, performance management, workload planning, and professional development
  • Oversee and actively participate in the delivery of healthcare outsourced accounting services, including general ledger oversight, month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide oversight of outsourced accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and internal controls support
  • Review and interpret financial results with client leadership teams, translating financial information into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate closely with BerryDunn’s broader Outsourced Accounting Services (OAS) team to align resources, share best practices, and enhance consistency and quality of service delivery
  • Build healthcare-specific accounting knowledge across the OAS team, including reimbursement considerations, regulatory compliance impacts, and industry benchmarks
  • Participate in client proposals, presentations, and business development efforts related to healthcare outsourced accounting services
  • Provide consultative support to healthcare clients, including financial feasibility analysis, process improvement initiatives, and optimization of financial operations

You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Active CPA license
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in outsourced accounting and/or advisory services
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex client relationships and leading client-service teams
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple concurrent engagements
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and provide practical, strategic solutions
  • Experience communicating effectively with clients, including facilitating meetings and presenting to leadership groups
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Positive, proactive leadership style that motivates and develops others

Preferred:

  • Hospital and/or other healthcare accounting experience (reimbursement, close, reconciliations, audit readiness, and reporting cadence)
  • Experience leading multiengagement delivery (capacity planning, budgeting/billing discipline, and quality review)
  • ERP exposure in healthcare environments (e.g., Infor, Workday, Oracle, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, etc.)
  • Experience supporting system transitions and integration-related finance requests without disrupting monthend
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring managers/seniors/staff
