Overview

We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Local Government team. This senior consultant role will primarily report into the Public Safety practice within BerryDunn's Justice & Public Safety consulting organization. This role requires experience in public safety (fire and/or law enforcement preferred), and the ability to translate that experience into actionable recommendations for our clients to improve the use of technology to support their operational objectives. You will provide consulting services that include project management, process analysis, and systems planning and selection leading to increased process efficiencies for our clients, and/or implementation oversight for large-scale computer system projects. This new team member will be located in either our Portland, Maine or a remote office location.

 

Travel Expectations: Willingness to travel 35-50%

You Will

  • Participate in meetings and interviews with client stakeholders and assist in documenting client needs and challenges
  • Participate in staff/team meetings and training, and work effectively as a team player on multiple client projects
  • Support additional team operations on an as needed basis, including events and marketing, internal research projects, and ongoing professional development initiatives
  • Play a lead role with technology acquisition and implementation projects, assisting our justice & public safety clients in replacing antiquated technology with modern solutions
  • Participate with and provide support to our justice & public safety teams with other non-technology related projects on an as-needed basis
  • Support the delivery of services to clients on time, within scope, and within budget, including leading and assisting in creating written deliverables and other work products
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to produce project outputs
  • Assist with the development of proposals in response to RFPs or other solicitations

You Have

  • BA/BS Degree (relevant professional may be offered in lieu of this requirement)
  • 5-10 years in public safety (fire or law enforcement preferred)
  • Experience with assessing the use of technology in public safety departments and agencies to identify improvement opportunities
  • Intermediate (or higher) knowledge of police operations and procedures
  • Excellent writing, analytical, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Relevant experience in project management, project coordination, and/or research
  • Significant operational skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

Desired skills:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of public safety Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) / Records Management Systems (RMS)
  • Technology project implementation experience
  • Supervisory experience in public safety (fire and/or law enforcement preferred).

Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $80,000 - $110,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
