Overview

BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Consultant or Manager with strong experience in project or program management to join our Medicaid Practice Group (MPG). As a Senior Consultant or Manager, you will have an initial focus supporting our Puerto Rico client in their efforts to establish, mature, and manage their PgMO. As part of our consulting team focused on State Medicaid Agency (SMA) clients, you’ll leverage your MES expertise and experience in project or program management to help Medicaid agencies improve the health and wellbeing of their most vulnerable population.

 

This position can be remotely-based or in one of our offices in Portland, Maine; Charleston, West Virginia; San Juan, Puerto Rico; or Phoenix, Arizona. You will report to and partner with senior management in our Medicaid team both for client work, career development, and development of your coworkers. Travel Expectations: Approximately up to 50% travel to client sites is anticipated in the future to support projects.

You Will

Provide project and program management services to clients as they transform their organization to align with their Medicaid Enterprise Systems strategy. As a trusted advisor, you will provide leadership and guidance for clients and internal project teams in the following areas:

 

  • Help support, lead, and manage PgMO activities in support of the client’s PgMO.
  • Advise and build relationships with team members including SMA resources, federal partners, BerryDunn team members, and vendors (invested parties).
  • Communicate project and program delivery status to SMA invested parties.
  • Facilitate the planning, tracking, and reporting on program outputs and outcomes.
  • Enhance and provide cross-program interdependency management.
  • Establish and/or enhance tools and standards for managing the MES programs.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the MES Roadmap on behalf of the client.
  • In collaboration with the client, maintain, advance, and implement the Program Management Roadmap. Particular areas of focus may be in enterprise governance, data governance, program management, and business operations.  
  • Track and report on program-level risks and issues.
  • Facilitate and manage discussions with internal team members, clients, vendors, and federal partners.
  • Help manage to engagement scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Oversee, guide, manage, coach, and mentor a team of internal resources making up the PgMO team in support of the client’s PgMO.
  • As part of a firm that emphasizes lifelong learning, you will develop your own career plan and mentor BerryDunn team members.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities, such as writing blog posts, attending conferences, participating in industry groups, leading/participating in prospective client business development meetings, reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), assisting with go/no-go decision-making, and developing responses to RFPs—in collaboration with BerryDunn’s Business Development team.

You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) (a bachelor’s degree can be replaced with an additional four (4) years related experience).
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated project management or program management experience in a MES environment.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience supporting a State Medicaid Agency as a consultant in the capacity as a business lead/SME/project manager.
  • Experience in supporting or participating in a project management organization or a program management organization is a plus. 
  • Experience in the capacity of a business lead/SME/project manager in Medicaid systems implementation projects such as Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) modules, Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), and eligibility and enrollment (E&E) systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning related initiatives with state health and human service agencies.
  • Experience working with Medicaid vendors on system implementations.
  • Knowledge and/or experience interfacing with federal partners or the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Experience leading work in the Medicaid field along with supporting skills such as meeting facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA), Outcome-Based Certification (OBC), Streamlined-Medicaid Certification (SMC), and/or State Medicaid Agency System Modernization efforts.
  • Experience drafting new and improved existing project management office policies and processes.
  • Experience establishing enterprise governance to support Medicaid agencies is a plus.
  • Demonstrate collaboration with client and internal leadership.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and familiarity with Medicaid finance, provider enrollment, and member eligibility and enrollment is preferred but not required.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $110,000 - $150,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
