Overview

As a Maine-based firm, BerryDunn is looking to expand our local team. BerryDunn is seeking a Manager with experience in project management to join our Medicaid Practice Group. As a Manager, you will have an initial focus supporting New England client(s) as a Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES) Project Manager in their efforts to manage MES projects. As part of our consulting team focused on State Medicaid Agency (SMA) clients, you’ll leverage your healthcare expertise and experience in project management to help Medicaid agencies improve the health and wellbeing of their communities.

 

BerryDunn is seeking an experienced Project Manager, preferably with experience in state government, health IT, and the Health and Human Services (HHS) industry. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact; manage the activities of the team; develop and update the project plan; manage project constraints; facilitate meetings; participate in deliverable walkthroughs; help ensure the team adheres to performance standards; and deliver project status updates.

 

The Project Manager will be responsible for the management, reporting, and achievement of project objectives, management of their team, and management of the project areas’ activities, schedule, quality, and resources. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated state HHS IT project management background with experience in Medicaid provider enrollment, claims processing, member eligibility and enrollment, and/or financial management.

 

This position can be remotely-based or in our office in Portland, Maine. You will report to and partner with senior management in our Medicaid team both for client work, career development, and development of your coworkers. With a growth mindset, you will drive your development with the support of a learning and development culture. You will report to senior leaders in the MPG, and will help clients nationally with your initial focus being on our clients in New England.

 

Travel Expectations: Up to 50% travel to client sites is anticipated to support projects.

You Will

  • Lead and manage project activities in support of the client’s
  • Advise and build relationships with project team members including client contacts, stakeholders, and vendor contacts.
  • Develop and maintain the project work plan; lead all project tasks
  • Conduct weekly Status Meetings and provide Weekly Status Reports
  • Plan, allocate, and manage project resources
  • Communicate project and delivery status to our clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Use your knowledge and experience to lead and project manage client projects, particularly Medicaid systems projects. This includes helping develop and/or review client deliverables.
  • Proactively identify project risks and issues and propose recommended courses of action
  • Conduct QA reviews of BerryDunn deliverables
  • Help ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices
  • Facilitate meetings and training with the project team including the client and client vendors to achieve project goals.
  • As part of a firm that emphasizes lifelong learning, you will develop your own career plan and mentor BerryDunn team members.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities, such as writing blog posts, attending conferences, participating in industry groups, leading/participating in prospective client business development meetings, reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), assisting with go/no-go decision-making, and developing responses to RFPs—in collaboration with BerryDunn’s Business Development team

You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS).
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience project managing Medicaid systems implementation projects for Medicaid provider enrollment, claims processing, member eligibility and enrollment, and/or financial management.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated experience managing performance and development of team members
  • Experience working with Medicaid vendors on system implementations.
  • Knowledge and/or experience interfacing with federal partners or the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Demonstrated experience working with Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA), Outcome-Based Certification (OBC), Streamlined-Medicaid Certification (SMC), and/or State Medicaid Agency System Modernization efforts.
  • Experience balancing multiple assignments and achieving quality results in a timely manner.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships with staff and diverse constituencies, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication including tactful communications with difficult messages.
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Tolerance for working in ambiguous, uncertain environments.
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Knowledgeable in quality assurance and control procedures and demonstrated proactive problem resolution management skills.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft applications.

Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $120,000 - $150,000.  This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
