Proposal Writing/Business Development

BerryDunn is seeking a thoughtful, creative, and success-oriented Senior Proposal Lead to drive business development activities for our growing State Government Practice Group (SGPG). You will be a leader with a passion for driving business through analyzing and solving problems, critical thinking, curiosity, attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and managing multiple priorities and deadlines. This position will report to the Director of Business Development and can be remotely based, or out of one of our office locations.


You Will:

  • Oversee a small business development team of proposal writers and coordinators who develop several proposals each month
  • Work with the leadership team to understand client/prospect project needs, build/strengthen relationships, and communicate BerryDunn’s services and areas of expertise
  • Work with the leadership team and Marketing to strategize on messaging and collateral for conferences and proactive meetings with clients/prospects
  • Analyze procurement documents, provide strategic analysis, and work with the SGPG leadership team to make informed and timely opportunity decisions
  • Monitor the state government landscape for opportunities that align with the firm’s core services, strategic priorities, and targets
  • Help develop an effective process for content collaboration across business development and consulting teams
  • Conduct background research, competitive and pricing analysis, and debrief analysis related to pipeline opportunities
  • Provide strategic input to the proposal process
  • Maintain the sales pipeline in Salesforce
  • Participate in selected conferences and/or proactive meetings
  • Participate as a member of the Business Development team to promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and consistency across practice areas


You Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience leading business development tasks including strategic positioning, relationship development, competitive analysis, and proposal development, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Project management, leadership, and diplomacy skills, with a customer service focus
  • Excellent organization, time management, and problem solving
  • Strong writing, editing, research, and analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively as a leader of a small team
  • Proven ability and comfort level working effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Project, Visio, Excel) and PowerPoint
