BerryDunn’s Health Policy Analysis consulting practice is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed, senior healthcare data analyst to help support our growing practice. We provide economic, actuarial, and analytics services to both government and nonprofit clients and have a well-established stream of business. This position is an attractive opportunity for an experienced professional, and can be based in either Portland, ME, Phoenix, AZ, Glastonbury, CT, or Remotely. Capable, motivated individuals can expect a variety of analytical projects that will expose them to the full range of our work in health analytics, including healthcare economic policy and finance, population health management, actuarial analysis, and eventually other areas across BerryDunn’s broad consulting practice.

You Will:

  • Serve as the key analytical contact across the full spectrum of analytical projects from gathering business requirements through delivery of final analysis and/or reports
  • Gather, manipulate and analyze complex healthcare data from a variety of sources, such as provider data and administrative claims data (medical, pharmacy, and eligibility) using SAS
  • Design and generate reports with appropriate access tools to meet client needs
  • Improve the efficiency and reliability of client and BerryDunn data processes
  • Ensure accuracy of data analyses, reports, and other deliverables by conducting thorough quality control checks and resolving discrepancies
  • Develop and maintain documentation on key processes for data collection, analysis and reporting


You Have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with analytic programming in SAS, including knowledge of SAS macros and data step programming
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or with substantial coursework in another quantitative discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare data, particularly administrative claims data, including standard healthcare coding systems such as ICD 9/10, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG codes
  • Knowledge and experience with querying databases and SQL a plus
  • Experience with business intelligence end-user access tools such as Tableau or Power BI a plus
  • Self-motivated, organized, and proven ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Creative problem solver who welcomes new analytic challenges
  • Strong ability to use data to answer analytical questions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with coworkers and diverse clients through periods of both intense interaction and self-directed work
